Tumugon sa Hamon calls out to everyone to look at the plight of the country's workers - their stories, grief, hopes and dreams, and join them as they collectively struggle for meaningful wage, basic labor rights that includes better working conditions and the right to organize. The song was written for the Church People and Workers' Solidarity, a conference that aims to strengthen cooperation and solidarity between church communities and workers.

Plagpul & Karl Ramirez at the 1st El Pasubat Festival 2011



Karl Ramirez and the band Plagpul with Pol Torrente on bass/vocals, Leo Isais on drums and Jay Jamoralin on guitar/vocals, performed an hour long set of makabayang rakenrol & electronica at the concert evening of the first ever El Pasubat Festival in the heritage town of Taal, Batangas last April 29, 2011. They performed 8 originals, opening with Nagmamahal and concluding the entire set with Makibaka.

Karl Ramirez & Plagpul on April 29 at the El Pasubat Festival, Taal, Batangas


This Friday, April 29, Karl Ramirez along with Pol Torrente, Jay Jamoralin and Leo Isais of the band Plagpul will be performing in the first ever El Pasubat Festival in Taal, Batangas. The festival was organized to commemorate the 439th anniversary foundation of the town of Taal. They will be performing quite a handful of makabayan rock & electronika, so people of Taal, Batangas do watch this unique act of makabayang rakenrol!

Mananatili Ka: An ode to labor leader Crispin "Ka Bel" Beltran



Mananatili Ka is the original sound track of Mayday's documentary film about the life of labor leader Crispin "Ka Bel" Beltran. The song was written by Empiel Palma, arranged and performed by Karl Ramirez for Mayday Productions.

"Ka Bel" will be shown at Cine Adarna (Main Theater), Film Institute, University of the Philippines, Diliman on March 14, 2011. Screening at 7PM. The documentary is a production of the Mayday Multimedia Collection in cooperation with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, Crispin B. Beltran Resource Center, Sine Patriyotiko, and Kilusang Mayo Uno. Check out the trailer below.

This electronika-acoustic remake of Makibaka was performed and arranged for Higante't Tutubi, a short animated feature about the Philippine environment produced by the Center for Environmental Concerns - Philippines. Animation by Audrey Ang and Karlene Co, with story written by Lisa Ito and Mykel Andrada.
